Update – 9pm:
Through 8-9pm, we were able to restore functionality to the network and most services, short of cloud and mirrors for the moment – we are working on them.
On Wednesday, May 27, from 7am, a planned network and internet outage is scheduled to occur in Sinkuleho and Dejvicka dormitory. This is due to a window replacement in the server room. As that will be a dirty operation with a quite a bit of dust, we’ll need to shut our equipment down in the morning. That will terminate our internet connection.
All members in both Sinkuleho and Dejvická dormitories will be affected.
Approximate plan of works:
- Tuesday, May 26, from 9pm: some external services will be shut down and network printer will be out of service. What will still work: Emails, cloud, SINIS and website, basic network connection.
- Wednesday, May 27, from 6:30-7:30: complete internet outage. Construction works will begin from 7am onward. Old windows will be taken apart and taken out, which will be the main dusty part of the operation. Following that, new windows should be inserted. The lighting in the room will also be replaced.
- Once the replacement works advance and it will be safe to reconnect, we will try to restore the services. You can expect this in the afternoon.
There is Eduroam in the Sinkuleho dorm hall, which should be unaffected, as it is leaking to us from the CESNET offices next to us.
Are you unable to take your online exams due to this? Please contact your teacher immediately and inform them of this fact! Do not hesitate to point them to this webpage, and we can also provide you with a statement of outage if necessary – contact firstname.lastname@example.org for this.
We are fully aware that this situation sucks, even more so in these times. Thank you for your patience and understanding, and do not hesitate to contact us, if you have any questions!
